Sizzy Rocket, a vivacious girl from Las Vegas with long curly raven hair and a penchant for slinky leather onesies, has been a performer all her life. Equal parts popstar and unapologetic badass, Rocket sparkles in any room she enters and has built a career on being free and fearless.
Her 2016 electro-clash track "Bestie," an unapologetically profane riff about friends with benefits, catapulted her to underground fame. While performing around the U.S., Rocket was busy writing songs for other artists like Uffie, Alice Glass, and Noah Cyrus, as well as working on her own subsequent albums: Grrrl in 2019, ANARCHY in 2020, and RAT in 2023.
Last year, Rocket won an open verse challenge via Kesha Records and collaborated on a remix of Kesha’s massive hit song “ATTENTION!” Rocket knew she had to level up what it means to be an independent pop star after that. Kesha herself then invited Rocket to open for her on the European and UK leg of her Tits Out Tour this past March, followed by the Freedom Tour in May and June. Rocket knew she had to release her most elevated pop effort yet, and so “Rodeo” was born, a euro-trash anthem fit for massive arena audiences. She created it with the same brilliant minds behind hits for the likes of Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, TWICE, and Ava Max, and performed it in front of tens of thousands of screaming fans.

Now, Rocket has released her newest and arguably best EP yet, Rode Hard, Put Away Wet. A triumphant project, the second single after “Rodeo” is “BUCK” a middle finger to haters and an anthem for the girls who wake up with glitter in their hair and memories of dancing on tables at the club. The third track, “TWANG!” was produced by Robopop (of Lana Del Rey “Video Games” fame) and co-written with singer-songwriter Jutes. It acts as Rocket’s twist on country music; armed with a banjo and a club beat, it’s a reclamation of a woman’s power in a man’s world. Rode Hard as an EP is exciting and urgent and marks a more mature chapter of Rocket’s life, shaped by a direct reflection of where she is now. It’s sexy, emotional and honest and signals a new era of creativity.
Speaking with Rocket, authenticity stands out as her most important value. Never sacrificing identity for anyone or anything remains her north star, even when compromise feels tempting. She believes honesty with herself always outweighs the short-term ease of wanting to fit in.
Routine is also extremely important for Rocket because without it there’s a feeling of not being fully herself. Her days begin around 8 a.m. and before checking her phone, she starts with a ‘holy trinity’ of beverages, consisting of water, greens, and a hot coffee. From there, she spends time outside while reading a stack of books and working out before having a little breakfast. Her focus then shifts into creative work, which includes rehearsing, recording and the occasional making of a music video. Her morning routine is deeply grounding while nighttime is a different story, when the club kid energy takes over. Her go-to snack is a cheeseburger. No fries.
Songwriting unfolds for Rocket in multiple ways, though the most natural begins at her piano. Chords come first, followed by melodies and raw vocals, where lyrics unconsciously take shape. Songs appear fully formed in the room rather than being constructed line by line. The experience of songwriting, as Rocket describes it, “feels less like writing and more like shedding a light on the power of music itself.”
But above all, touring is Rocket’s favorite part of being an artist. Not because of the travel, but because of the fans she meets along the way. Meeting people from around the world and seeing their excitement after shows reminds her that the connection goes far beyond music. Watching that joy unfold makes Rocket feel like she’s a part of something bigger. As she puts it, “they restore my faith in humanity.” Even the less glamorous moments don’t register as downsides to touring: the questionable motels, the occasional grimy venues, they all just “build character.”
Rocket just finished reading Maggie Nelson’s “Pathemata.” As a longtime admirer of Nelson’s work, she describes her writing as poetic and singular, noting how no other author has plucked at her heartstrings in quite the same way. The book delivers the same sharp originality she strives for when making her own music.
Jack White is Rocket’s musical inspiration, influencing her discipline and approach to performing. For her, technical skill is not only important but deeply compelling, relating to White’s mastery of instruments as a form of allure.
Fashion’s power, for Rocket, lies in its ability to transform identity. For example, a simple jacket can be more than just an item of clothing, transforming the wearer into a new character. For her European tour with Kesha, she collaborated with designer Efrain Nava to rework her dad’s 1980s’ trench coat into a dramatic stage piece adorned with wigs, chains and studs. Each time she performs, Rocket feels like she steps more into the embodiment of a rockstar with her attitude further accessed through each costume she puts on.
With years of reinvention behind her and a fiercely loyal fanbase, Rocket continues to push boundaries and look incredibly hot while doing it. She’s always stayed true to the bold spirit that made audiences fall in love with her in the first place. When we asked how her favorite person would describe her, she texted her bestie Lynn Gunn, and Gunn quickly responded with: “You can take the girl outta Vegas, but you can’t take the Vegas outta the girl!”
